A Curly-Haired Girl, A Little Artwork, A Few Cupcakes....... She's On A Mission!

There once was a curly-headed little girl, who over time grew into a lovely young woman that with the development of her own talents became extraordinary. Kristin, that very talented and lovely young woman, is my niece. She is passionate about all things crafty, but Kristin is also passionate about her faith, her family, and baking cupcakes… mmmm cupcakes!

Kristin and her husband, Leo,  have a heart for missions and overseas volunteer programs. People who are involved in missions are world changers  people who have a burning desire to follow a calling in life like almost no other. Their passion to change the world and effect lives is inspiring, and I want to be a part of that in any way I can. Kristin and Leo are headed to Esquipulas, Guatemala from August 2-9 2014 with their local church. And with your help, I think we can be a part of something bigger than ourselves.

Raising money for a mission trip can be challenging at best. Instead of waiting to collect donations — although they would take them! — Kristin is using her artistic talent to raise as much money as she can for their trip. She is selling original painted prints of Bible verses and inspirational quotes. The photos above are a few examples of her projects in varying stages. She takes requests my friends — your favorite Bible verse or quote in any color or design. A colored print on standard weight watercolor paper is only $15.00. Framed, with the same print is $25.00 and if you'd prefer acrylic or oil paint on a stretched canvas, they start at $30.00, depending on size. Of course shipping is extra. The money they raise will go directly towards seeing lives changed with the Gospel. The cost is $1,400/person which covers flight, food, lodging, and any ministry expenses once they get there.

In America, if we so choose, we are able to keep a comfortable distance from the extreme poverty that plagues so much of the rest of the world. Yes, we may see images on television of hungry or malnourished children and feel compassion. But, if you are like me, you may quickly change the channel, feeling overwhelmed and thinking, “How can I possibly make a difference?”  I urge you to help this young couple make a difference in the world, one individual at a time.

If you're interested in a piece of artwork, and helping out a young newly wedded couple spread the Word, you can contact Kristin by e-mail at kristinloughmiller@gmail.com.

By the way, she also bakes the most delicious cupcakes! She used to work at Sprinkles full time and can capture the essence of a cupcake like no other! If you live in the East Texas area, Kristin can whip you up a batch of delightful cupcakes for any occasion. If you are interested in flavor combinations you can contact Kristin at https://www.facebook.com/wmcakery, where you can find her e-mail address.

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!" Isaiah 6:8
