OLD FASHIONED BUTTERMILK PIE

This is the very first pie that I entered into the Texas State Fair Pie Contest. It won a blue ribbon and I was forever hooked! Since then this buttermilk pie has become a staple in our home. It is so stinking easy to make and requires only a few ingredients, making this THE PERFECT PIE! A cold slice will cure what ails you - guaranteed!

  3. I've made 4 pies using this recipe and each one was consumed within the week! My family is absolutely bonkers about this pie. My mother-in-law even wants me to make one just for her. LOL

  5. This year was the first year I've tried buttermilk pie and I couldn't wait to learn how to make it. Made my first attempt with this recipe. Super easy but mine was done in 45 minutes. I'm afraid I left it in a little longer. This recipe said to eat it cold. How long should I let it cool after cooking pie and how long should I let it get cold in fridge before eating?

    1. Esme,

You don't have to eat it cold. We just prefer it that way. We usually leave it in the fridge overnight. Also, I do cook mine about an hour, but my mom only cooks it 40 or 45 minutes. My dad likes this pie a little 'loose.' I hope you enjoyed this pie... it's our favorite.
