LOBSTER AND CORN CHOWDER

A New England classic, this decadent lobster chowder evokes images of summers at the Maine shore - one of our happy places. Prepare this hearty chowder at the height of summer, when lobster and fresh corn are at their seasonal best. You can make this chowder in the wintertime, too – just use frozen corn! This is my go-to recipe when I want to impress a crowd. I hope you enjoy it as well.

SEAFOOD CHOWDER

Mr.P and I love the Maine Diner in Wells, ME. This award winning diner serves up comfort food at it's best. The Seafood ChowderVoted Best Chowder at the Ogunquit Chowderfest 10 years running—alone will have you coming back for more. Whenever we are traveling through that part of the country we stop in for a visit and a cuppa something hearty and good. Sadly we live in Texas and don't make it to Maine as often as we'd like, so I have come up with my own Seafood Chowder recipe. It doesn't come close to the Maine Diners divine bowls, but it is one of my most requested recipes just the same. I hope you enjoy!

One Cold November Night.......

.....found me all alone at Porter Central; highly abnormal for our household. There is ALWAYS someone or something underfoot. Finding myself in this 'blue banana' sort of situation was a pleasant surprise indeed. So what to do with my free night. The house is clean. Laundry maybe? Or, I could always finish Christmas decorating. Nope, I think I'll have a bowl of my favorite soup, listen to my Christmas music on Rhapsody and do a bit of cyber window-shopping. The laundry and decorating can wait until tomorrow because the night belongs to ME.....AND IT'S GONNA BE FUN! Well, at least relaxing and I'll take that any day!

The "Original" Loaded Baked Potato Soup!

Our "winter" here in North Texas has been mild at best this year of 2012. Today we had a cold front come through and we are actually going to have a hard freeze tonight! IT'S SOUP WEATHER!! Finally. I love soup weather and wouldn't it be grand if it snowed just a little...oh how divine that would be! Not to be this year I think, but I love a cold night and a steaming cup of hot soup. When we are dining out and I order soup if it's not steaming hot, and I do mean steaming hot, back to the kitchen it goes. If I am going to eat soup I want HOT soup.
