CHRISTMAS BONBONS

CHRISTMAS BONBONS
This candy reminds me of Almond Joys. With the added Maraschino cherries, it takes this Christmas candy over the top. Beloved by all of my family and friends, it is the most requested candy I make during the holidays.
I hope your loved ones enjoy as well!

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 can (14 ounces) Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
  • 5 cups confectioners sugar
  • 3 cups Bakers shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped Maraschino cherries, drained well
  • 1 cup chopped toasted almonds
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 12 ounces chocolate flavored almond bark
  • 12 ounces Dark Dove Chocolate
WHAT TO DO
  • Beat butter and condensed milk until smooth.
  • Stir in next 5 ingredients.
  • Cover and chill until firm, about an hour.
  • Form into one inch balls and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Melt almond bark and Dove chocolate in a double boiler over low heat.
  • Using a round candy makers tool or toothpick dip candy balls in chocolate; place on wax lined cookie sheets until hardened.
I drizzle my finished bonbons with melted white chocolate. It gives them a nice finished look!

    1. They make great Christmas gifts. I buy 'rigid' boxes from Nashville Wraps. They have a massive selection of truffle/candy boxes at reasonable prices. Hope you enjoy Marsha!

  3. Hi Ronda--Thanks for stopping by gfe! As I said there, these Bon Bons look amazing! Of course, I love that they are naturally gluten free, too. :-) I'll be honest and tell you that I almost never make candies (other than fudge), but goodness I might have to make an exception for these. I could see beautiful little boxes of them as perfect gifts! I'm one who has lots of little boxes and little tins on hand. Convenient, huh? ;-)
